On 28th June 2011 the director of Pogrebno podjetje Maribor, mag. Lidija Pliberšek received a medal for all the merits in the memory of the fallen veterans.
28th June 2011 – As part of his visit in Maribor, the Russian Ambassador, his excellency dr. Doku Zavgajev has presented a medal of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation for all the merits in the memory of the fallen veterans to the director of Pogrebno podjetje Maribor, mag. Lidija Pliberšek.
Mag. Lidija Pliberšek, the director of Pogrebno podjetje Maribor and a vice-president of the Association of Significant Cemeteries in Europe (ASCE), has throughout her work been presenting cemeteries as historical and cultural monument of the city.
Pogrebno podjetje Maribor d.d. successfully finished an international project “The war graves”. By preserving and labelling military graves in the cemetery, we awaken the memory of those who were ignored and lost in historical memory. Among the victims of both wars, the largest number of Russian soldiers and prisoners of war was buried at the Maribor area.
