ASCE organized the traditional annual conference for its members. The host of Annual Conference 2013 was cemetery from Amsterdam.
ASCE Annual Conference entitled European cemeteries as a cultural landscape was held from 19th to 21st September 2013.
The host of the conference was the cemetery Westerveld.
The conference, which was opened by the Chairman of the Board Facultatieve Group, Henry Keizer, and the president of the Association of European importance cemeteries - ASCE, MA. Lidija Pliberšek, was attended by over 70 members from 20 European countries.
The purpose of this meeting was to highlight the European cemeteries as cultural landscapes, in two respects:
- in general, referring to cultural cemetery heritage and
- specifically, covering the past, present and future of those places where nature has played an important role.
Pogrebno podjetje Maribor, as a Chairman of ASCE members in the past 3 years, has succeeded to enrich the annual conference with lectures by academics. So this year, Dr. F. Javier Rodríguez Barberan, Karel Werdler and Julie Rugg gave their lectures on their academic research concerning cemeteries.
